Al-Shabaab had laid ambush for a team of policemen that were called to assist other officers after they hit a landmine. Two policemen were killed in the attack as they responded to a distress call of the police officers whose vehicle had ran over a landmine.

                    

In a statement yesterday, the inspector general of police, Mr Joseph Boinnet said four injured officers during the attack have been airlifted to the nation's capital, Nairobi. There were no civilian casualties and other police officers have been accounted for.

Four police vehicles were damaged and two of them burnt beyond repairs. In a response to the attack, a joint Kenya Defence Force and police operation was launched yesterday morning.

                  

The military have not been fuly involved, but it was reported that the Al-Shabaab group have taken over some mosques and placed their flag on the mosques for hours.

The Al-Shabaab group have threatened the peace of of Kenya, in recent times, Al-Shabaab killed 150 students in the Garissa university, and also bombs a UN Bus, killing all 9 staff.
