Walmart

TV show host, Ellen DeGeneres has given one of her biggest gifts yet to the students of Brooklyn's Summit Academy Charter School, class 2017. The TV show host with the help of Walmart was able to give a 4 year college scholarship to the students, worth $1.6 Million on her show.

                 

The scholarship will allow the students to attend any New York State University with their scholarship.

Ellen has supported the school teachers in the past, and had donated, also with the help of Walmart a $25,000.

The students could not believe their ears as they all jump and hugged each other, while some of the students could not stop the water from their eyes.

The Lagos state governor, Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has received the delegation of a leading global brand in the retail market, Walmart in his Lagos office. The delegation led by the President and Chief Executive Officer of Walmart Europe, Middle East, Africa and Canada, Shelley Broader met the governor on Thursday.

          

The governor while welcoming the delegation promised that the state will give necessary support Walmart in establishing its presence in the state. The governor said that the presence of Walmart will boost the economy of Lagos state and be another means for creating jobs for the youths in the state.

Mr Akinwunmi Ambode said :

That summaries the reason why Walmart has to berth in Lagos. We are committed to expanding the business scope for Walmart and like I said, I am interested in having your brand signature in Lagos.


You have been pro-people and that’s why we find a congress between the objectives of Walmart and Lagos State Government.
As we speak, we have a population of over 21 million people and four million of that population are in the middle class. We have a bulging youth that is craving for employment and whatever it is that we do, we want to make sure that we attract as much investment to Lagos that can help us to take our youths off the streets and give them employment.

What I stand here to offer is the commitment to make the investment climate favourable to investors. We want to ensure that whatever it is that would make the business bigger for you, we are committed to it.
I want to assure you that if it is in the area of land permits or authorisation for issues that relate to setting up business, we are committed to making sure that we fast-track and do it as transparent as possible to allow more businesses to come to Lagos.

    

Mrs Broader while speaking said that the group is ready to invest in the state, and also acknowledged the investment opportunities in the state. Broader said ;

We are incredibly excited and proud to be in this exciting state of Lagos. Just looking at the burgeoning economy and at the growth in this market is very exciting and now Walmart operates around the world in 28 countries and our mission is to lower the cost of living, to help people save and live better.
The passion that you feel right when you land at the airport, there’s an excitement here. You can feel that this is a state within a country really on the move forward. There is a smile on the people’s faces; there is eagerness and there’s a mission that they are on to better themselves and their families. It’s very exciting

In the wake of 9 people killed in Charleston,South Carolina, a woman might want to balance things up, as she claimed in a news that went viral that she was attacked by African Americans.The woman who wrote the message on Facebook under a name, Ashley M wrote:

 Just got jumped by 3 African Americans ourside(sic) of the as Walmart they are in a white ford 150 extended cab. Arkansas tags. They hit me inside Walmart and were cussing. I was very polite and asked them to lower their voices and the cuss words in front of my 3 year old daughter and this is the outcome. What has the world come to --Feeling emotional

    

And when Daily dot asked security personnel what happened the time when Ashley reported, they said nothing matching her description, also Daily Dot asked the police, Officer Mike Jones of the  Texarkana police force. if any of such case was reported, he said :

  'I've talked to our Detective Sergeant. He has reviewed all of the reports from the weekend and there is no report of this incident. There is also no report in our system from a person with the poster's name. We are confident in stating that this incident, if it did occur, has not been reported to this department.

Nonetheless, the story of the woman went viral and most people who wrote the comment attacked her insincerity and asked her for the police report, but still Ashley did not respond with the police report, instead she showed everyone the middle finger and said :

 Here's your police report.

         

Though she removed the picture already, but before it was removed, Ashely wrote: 

I don’t want you pitty (sic) attention anything. I’m just warning there are dangerous people in Texarkana be careful. They did this to me for no reason in front of my 3 year old. At Texas side Walmart.

The Texarkan police force via their Facebook page said that Ashley claims were questionable, but soon removed the post. The police force said :

  We were informed that she is emotionally disturbed and that they are attempting to get her the assistance that she needs.We have removed the post to avoid contributing to her difficult struggle
