Freedom of speech has cost Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) $250 Million in a wake of his recent controversial “Drink Champs” interview. Ye in his interview referenced a Candace Owen documentary, he said;

I watched the George Floyd documentary that Candace Owens put out. One of the things that his two roommates said was they want a tall guy like me, and the day that he died, he said a prayer for eight minutes. They hit him with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that.”

The family responded to Ye's claim, calling it a “blatantly false” and “malicious, allegation. The family attorneys have now sent a cease and desist letter to the Ye after the interview. The attorney also asked that the interview on Drinks Champ, which already had millions in views be unpublished from YouTube.

In a letter obtained by TMZ, It reads in part;

Mr. Floyd’s cause of death is well-settled through evidence presented in courts of law during the criminal and civil trials that were the result of his untimely and horrific death. Nevertheless, you have maliciously made statements that are inaccurate and unfounded, causing damage to Mr. Floyd’s estate and his family

Mr Ye claimed that George Floyd's death was caused by fentanyl overdose and pre-existing conditions, and not Derek Chauvin kneeling on his neck, something that had caused a massive stir of the hornet online. The Drink Champ host, N.O.R.E has called into different radio shows, including the popular Breakfast show to apologize for not moderating or removing the comment by Ye, and committed to moderating all new videos, so as not to offend the community or anyone anymore.

The death of George Floyd caused a massive protest in 2020 against police brutality in the United States, and this led to the conviction of Derek Chauvin for the murder of a black person.
