Somali militant group, Al-Shabaab have bombed a minivan transporting the staff of United nations to the office on Monday. The latest bombing claimed the lives of 9 people, including four staff of UNICEF who is working for the Global Body's Children Funds.

UNICEF had released a statement after the attack via their website
Four UNICEF staff members have reportedly been killed in an attack on a vehicle in which they were riding in Garowe, Somalia. Four other UNICEF colleagues are reportedly in a serious condition. The IED (improvised explosive device) attack occurred when the staff were travelling from their guest house to the office, normally a three minute drive.UNICEF is currently contacting families of the staff, and airlifting the injured.
The UNICEF colleagues were an integral part of UNICEF’s work in Somalia, dedicated to improving the lives of others.
Al-Shabaab have created has staged a series of attacks in Somalia and neighbouring countries in a bid to impose their brand od Islam, overthrow the government that they believed is backed by Western donor and African Peacekeepers.
The military spokesperson of Al-Shabaab have confirmed the incident and said " We are behind the Garowe attack".
The fight against Al-Shabaab is yielding success has they have been driven out of a lot of their major strongholds they once ruled, the effort of the war against by the Somali military and African Union peacekeepers has been driving them out of the strongholds.
Earlier this month, the group had invaded Garissa university in the Kenyan town of Garissa killing 147 non-Muslims in the university campus. An attack that has been termed one of the deadliest in the country.
