Same-sex marriage

Pastor Joshua Feuerstein, a former television and radio evangelist has asked his followers and supports to fight the recent same-sex marriage legalized by the United States supreme court. The pastor makes his intention known via a rant on his Facebook post.

The former pastor said that the current government is only trying to frustrate Christians and have been going coming after their first amendment right. Joshua said if they keep coming for your first amendment right, then make use of the second amendment right, then pulls out what looks like a sophisticated weapon.

“They’re coming after our First Amendment constitutional rights! Well, check this out, this is one pastor that will not bow. Why? Because my First Amendment right (holds up gun) is guaranteed by my Second Amendment right. Think about that, ladies and gentlemen. It’s time that we finally take a stand and say no more. We’re not backing up any further. We’re not going to allow a tyrannical government to come in and strip away our rights as Christians and try to demonize us so that they can make the Bible bigoted.”

And the fight to allow gays in the country was not because of equal rights, as they already have that through the civil union, but rather was a direct attack on Christianity.

“I remember telling you guys a long time ago that this was not about gay marriage and equality!” he ranted. “It’s about reconstitutionalizing a term so that now it opens up the door for the liberals to come after Christianity!”

After the ruling of the Supreme Court Of The United States (SCOTUS) that allows same-sex marriage in the United States, Governor Abbott of Texas has said he will continue to protect the religious liberties of Texans. He said marriage is for both men and woman only, and all state agencies will prioritize the  protection of Texans’ religious liberties

The Governor took to Twitter and informed Texans that they are not required by the supreme court decision to act contrary to their beliefs regarding marriage.

Read Governor Abbot statement below released on the state website :

The Supreme Court has abandoned its role as an impartial judicial arbiter and has become an unelected nine-member legislature. Five Justices on the Supreme Court have imposed on the entire country their personal views on an issue that the Constitution and the Court’s previous decisions reserve to the people of the States.

Despite the Supreme Court’s rulings, Texans’ fundamental right to religious liberty remains protected. No Texan is required by the Supreme Court’s decision to act contrary to his or her religious beliefs regarding marriage.

The Texas Constitution guarantees that ‘[n]o human authority ought, in any case whatsoever, to control or interfere with the rights of conscience in matters of religion.’ The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion; and the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act, combined with the newly enacted Pastor Protection Act, provide robust legal protections to Texans whose faith commands them to adhere to the traditional understanding of marriage.

As I have done in the past, I will continue to defend the religious liberties of all Texans—including those whose conscience dictates that marriage is only the union of one man and one woman. Later today, I will be issuing a directive to state agencies instructing them to prioritize the protection of Texans’ religious liberties.

The Supreme court today ruled that states cannot ban same-sex marriage. This is a victory for the community as the court establishes a new civil right and handing gay rights advocates a victory.

Several state courts have overturned state bans on same sex marriage, but today, the court have ruled in a 5-4 decision that same-sex marriage is now legal in the 50 states of the USA. The highest court in the land has ruled that marriage equality is a right for all the citizen of US citizens, and gays and lesbians can get married in all 50 states.

The Fourteenth Amendment requires a State to license a marriage between tow people of the same sex and to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out-of-State.

And this, from today’s Supreme Court ruling:

No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right. The judgment of the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit is reversed.
