Two python snakes have been found in a toilet bowl in Queensland, Australia. The two carpet pythons, 3 and 2.4 metres in length were safely removed later from the lavatory and into a suitable habitat.
The snakes were removed by Elliot Budd, a zoology student and snake-catcher volunteer. Budd helped move the snake from the lavatory.
Budd while speaking to the Mashable Australia said that though such incident are not uncommon, it wasn't unheard of. Elliot continues;
Speaking to a few other snake catchers, they've heard of it happening," he said. "Maybe it happens once every couple of years, if you're lucky." He's most often called in to nab the reptiles from roofs, sheds or underneath people's houses.
I've had a couple in office buildings, which is usually a bit of a surprise, I've had one on the top of a garage roller door, so when I put the door down it almost fell on top of me ... There was one in a fire extinguisher box not long ago.
To remove the snakes in the toilet bowl, Budd said;
The first one, we had to unbolt the toilet because he was stuck in there. The second one, basically, after 15 minutes of holding onto him, he eventually started coming out on his own.
They're considered to be harmless to people. They're not something to be feared, but you shouldn't go grabbing one if you don't have the training.
Budd said that the snakes are looking for a damper home due to the extremely dry weather in Townsville, Budd said ;
They're looking for water, I've gotten a few in swimming pools and in laundry sinks, and even in kitchen sinks.
