In the government effort to crack down corrupt politicians in South Korean public offices, a new law has now been stated that any South Korean official that received more than $900+ as a bribe, either monetary or material possession, or receiving both monetary or material possession worth $900+ will be removed from their position as office holders.
But in the case that the bribe is less than $900, such person will face disciplinary action according to the country’s Ministry of Personnel Management.
And the law also states that any official that is removed from office because of bribery will not be allowed to perform any public official duties for a duration of 5 years, and their severance pay and pension will be reduced by 50 percent.
The ruling is set to take effect from November.
