"Independence day" actor, Randy Quaid was arrested in Vermont today while trying to cross-border from Canada to the USA. He is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday for being a fugitive from justice. The actor who was known for his role in Independence day came back to US after authorities in Canada threatened to deport him from the country.
He had decided to face US justice and was immediately arrested at the Highgate Springs port of entry by troopers. Quaid is wanted in Santa Barbara, California for felony vandalism charges filed in 2010 with his wife, Evi, after both pairs were seen squatting in a guest house of a home they previously owned.
The pair eluded several court dates and appearances and decided to hide in Canada. Evi was granted Canadian citizenship, but Quaid was denied the permanent citizenship
