Fayose US visa ban

A US classified document have shown how the US embassy in Nigeria banned the governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, his wife, Feyisetan Helen Olayemi Fayose and his three children, Oluwajomiloju John Fayose, Ayorogbayimika Mine Fayose,Chukwuemeka Boluwatife Fayose in February 2009, and it is unclear if the ban is still active on the family.

Feyisetan Helen Olayemi Fayose visa which was valid till February 2010, was recommended for the ban, Oluwajomiloju John Fayose B2 visa, Oluwajomiloju John Fayose, Ayorogbayimika Mine Fayose,Chukwuemeka Boluwatife was recommended to be banned even though it was valid till July 27, 2010.

                           

The document shows that Ayo Fayose had stolen $81 million from the state treasury during his tenure in the state, and also using bogus companies to steal from the state. He was also accused of paying spectators to attend his political rallies.

He was also accused of triggering events that cause chaos and political violence in the state to corrupt elections in his favours. The document also shows people that were murdered by Ayo Fayose associates.

The murder victims include Tunde Omojola and Ayo Daramola, assassination attempt of Taiwo Fasuba, then chairman of Ado-Ekiti local government area, Ayo Afe Babalola, a prominent lawyer who hails from Ekiti State.

According to Sahara reporters, Ayo Fayose suggested that the visa restriction was removed or his family members were never barred from entering the United states; 

My family (wife and son) was in the US last summer,I have only been to the US only twice in my life. During my trial by EFCC between 2007 and 2014, in 2009 the court [asked] that my passport be deposited with the court. I approached the American Embassy for renewal [and they] said I can come back after the trial. I have since won my case at the Ado Ekiti Federal High Court in 2014, which discharged and acquitted me. I have not approached the US Embassy since then.

On February 13,2009, Ayo Fayose approached the US embassy seeking a travel visa for medical issues, but his visa application was denied.
