The recent police standoff in Dallas between the police and a lone gunman has now come to an end, Dallas Police Chief David Brown told reporters Friday.

The gunman was killed by a bomb police detonated, using their robot bomb detonator, as police chief said another option would risk more lives of policemen.

We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot and place a device on its extension for it to detonate where the suspect was," Brown said. "Other options would have exposed our officers to grave danger. The suspect is deceased as a result of detonating the bomb."

The gunman killed 5 policemen and injured seven others. Most of the wounded policemen have now been released from hospital. The killing of the law enforcement has been the deadliest since September 11, 2011.

While negotiators tried stopping him from more killing, he said he was tired of the police killings, especially white policemen, he also said that he is not affiliated to any group, and that he has done the whole killing all by himself.

Police chief said;

"All I know is that this must stop -- this divisiveness between our police and our citizens, We don't feel much support most days. Let's not make today most days. Please, we need your support to be able to protect you from men like these, who carried out this tragic, tragic event.

I'm not going to be satisfied until we've turned over every stone. We've got some level that this one suspect did do some of the shooting. But we're not satisfied that we've exhausted every lead,"So if there's someone out there who's associated with this, we will find you, we will prosecute you, and we will bring you to justice

A protest that had started out peacefully in Dallas, Texas has gone south after an unknown gunmen started shooting at policemen, killing 5 officers and injuring 6 others.  Also at least 11 other police officers were shot.

The police also arrested a lady suspect who was also involved in a shootout with SWAT officers near the garage at El Centro College in downtown is in custody. A suspicious package found around the same location was inspected by the Dallas Department police bomb squad.

In a news conference, Dallas Police Chief David Brown said they are currently negotiating with the second suspect in the second floor of the garage, and had exchange gunfires with police, and also not cooperating with the police.

 David Brown said the suspect said;  "the end was coming," that he's "going to hurt and kill more of us" (meaning law enforcement), and that there were bombs planted all over the garage and downtown.

The protest happening around different states in the country is due to the death of Anton Sterling that was shot by police officer on Tuesday and another black man, Philando Castile, 32 killed in a traffic stop in Minnesota on Wednesday.
