Nnamdi Kanu

The European Union is not accepting the rhetoric of the Nigeria security agency that tagged the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) a terrorist organization.

The Nigerian Armed Forces last Sunday visited the home of the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu and while they could not get him, they bounced on his followers who at the time were unfortunate to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. They were not only beaten by the Nigerian Army, but in its show of force and send fear to other agitators, the Nigeria Army punished the Biafra soldiers to bath in muddy water.

The operation to clamp down on Nnamdi Kanuand his men was called the operation Operation Python Dance II .

After the pictures and video of the operation went online, the President of the EU Commission, Mr. Jean-Claude Junker rebuked the Nigeria security personnel on the operation, and called it unprofessional in the handling of the issue, and the operation tramples on the right of the people of a democratic state.

Mr. Jean-Claude Junker said;

It is the people’s right to agitate and make a request from their government; self-determination is a right enshrined in the United Nation Charter. The people of Biafra have every right to request for a referendum, they have been in this struggle for a while now they have never killed or shot a bullet instead they are the victims of attacks and murder.

“The entire EU hereby condemns the brutal attack on IPOB members and leadership under the pretentious disguise of a military exercise (Operation Python Dance). The Nigerian military is warned to adopt democratic tenets in handling citizens.

The EU will not sit and watch things go undemocratic in the largest economy of the West African region.

Junker said that what IPOB want is a referendum, and what they wanted is no different from what the British wanted from Europe(BREXIT) and no different from what the Catalonians wanted in Spain. He then said he would raise the issue among other EU members. The Nigerian government must handle the issue with maturity and make it democratic.

Kanu before Junker's comment had petitioned the EU, The Presidents of United States of America, Russia, Israel, United Kingdom and France, accusing the Army of intimidation, torture, arrest, abduction and killing of the civilian populace in the Southeast.

The letter contained a pictures and videos of what the military had been doing in the Southeast , and ask that the head of nations help to ask the Nigerian government to withdraw its group from the region.

Nnamdi Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have replied the son of the former Biafra leader, late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Debe, after his comment that embattled leader and founder of Biafra radio, Nnamdi Kanu is not the leader of the group.

According to the spokesperson of IPOB, Emma Powerful, he said Debe is not well informed about the IPOB movement and restoration. Emma said;

Was it not the same Nnamdi Kanu that used Radio Biafra to defend him when Ojukwu’s children said his mother was not married to the late Odumegwu Emeka Ojukwu and as such labelled him no body in the society. Without the intervention of Nnamdi Kanu on Radio Biafra, he Debe would have been found nowhere today.

Debe should be asked where and when he contributed to Radio Biafra formation and IPOB. He has brought shame to the revered Ojukwu’s name and family all because of political opportunism.

How many IPOB meetings has he Debe attended? Does he know we have IPOB family meeting in the same Lekki where he lives? How come he has never attended any IPOB meeting either in Nigeria or abroad? Debe should join the Director of Public Prosecution of Nigeria to try and condemn our leader so that way, he and Ikedife can get their job and contracts.

The DSS also said it found arms and ammunition at one of Kanu's associates,Benjamin Madubugwu, house at the Ubulusiuzor, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State home. Another associate of Kanu is one David Nwawuisi, both are working for a Nigeria telecommunication industry, MTN as field maintenance.

Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, wife of controversial Biafra radio in Nigeria while speaking to IBT UK spoke about the current status of the director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu who is currently in the custody of the Nigerian state security services (DSS). Uchechi said that the prolonged detention of Nnamdi Kanu is wrong, and he is only a "Prisoner Of Conscience).

Uchechi said that her husband was arrested when he travelled from London to Nigeria in October, and has since been in detention, and the DSS is not allowing him to take his medication for his "life-threatening ulcer".

Nnamdi Kanu is the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra(Ipob), the name that was first used by the leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu to secede Biafra from Nigeria, a war that led to the death of one to three million Nigerians in 1967, before the Nigerian government was able to get back the territory and re-annexed Biafra to Nigeria in 1970.

As the Igbo community continues to chant on the street for a new Biafra republic, we have decided to share with Nigerians and Igbos a video interviewwith the leader and the man who started the talk about the Biafra republic,  Chukwuemeka Ojukwu.

 Chukwuemeka Ojukwu led the war that lasted for two and a half years (1967–1970)  before he fled the country to Ivory Coast and went on exile. The war led to the death of more than one million people due to starvation and gunfire.

The war was caused due to a coup in January 1966 that led to killings of Northern leaders, including  Nigeria's Prime Minister, Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa and 30 others, but the coup was quickly tagged a "Igbo coup" because the Igbo president, Nnamdi Azikwe, the President, of Igbo extraction, and the premier of the southeastern part of the country were not killed.

The Hausas retaliated in July 1966, the Northern army staged a counter coup, retaliating the coup by the Igbo officers, killing the head of state at that time, Johnson Aguiyi Ironsi. This two coups will forever cause an ethnic tension between the Igbos and the Hausas, and both have always been like day and night in Nigeria.

Emergence Of New Biafra

Just like the minions, Igbo people have found new hero again, after Ojukwu's death, and the a new hero is Nnamdi Kanu, tagged the "Redeemer of Biafra", who has warmed his way into the heart of Igbos, both home and abroad, and they are all looking to restore the legacy of their past leader,  Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, and in the process have tagged Nigeria a zoo, and people living there are probably animals.

                   New Biafra warlord and hero, Nnamdi Kanu

The country's president, Muhammadu Buhari has also been tagged, a Paedophile among many other names.

What Will Ojukwu Do?

The leader of the defunct Biafra, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu during on his interview after he was pardoned and asked to return from exile, gave a short interview, and this is the excerpt from the video.

Ojukwu who said that he led the first BIafra war proudly said that he and others should have learned during the first Biafra war,  and he doesn't think Nigeria will need a second war, and it will be a mistake for anyone to propose another Biafra war.

Why Now? Why Another Secession

The new secession can be easily said is due to the new leader of the Nigerian government, President Muhammadu Buhari. The ethnic tension between the Igbos and the Hausas still lingers in their memory of the both parties.

These are people that never saw what happened during the Biafra war, and are ready to go for a new war, if it means the Igbo having a new country.

The Igbos would have preferred someone like President Jonathan to continue ruling the country, and it was no surprise to see that Goodluck Jonathan cleared all Igbo states during the presidential election in Nigeria, because Igbos detest the Hausa tribe on the seat of power.

What Will Happen Next?

Nobody can give an accurate answer to this. The chanting continues, and the new Igbo hero keeps talking to them via radio and social media, and telling them to push on.

Doynews will give updates as story on Biafra land unfolds.
