Sowore release

Omoyele Sowore, owner of Sahara reporters is once again released after he was re-arrested in December 7th, 2019 inside a courtroom, a move by the Department of State Security(DSS) that caused uproar both from local and international observers, with the members of the United State Congress asking for the release of the US citizen, and that the Nigeria government follows the rule of law.

Sowore was taken by the DSS after he called for a revolution for poor governance in Nigeria. He had been in the custody of the security agency since August 3, 2019, and after he was ordered to be released by the court, the agency disobeyed a court order, and when he was released, he was then re-arrested and pushed around, and again taken away.

Another Nigeri\ian regaining his freedom yesterday as Sowore was the immediate-past National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki. He had been in detention since 2015, and just like Sowore, the court had ordered for the release of Dasuki, but once again, the agency denied his release and get him in their detention for 4 years.

Nigeria attorney general, Abubakar Malami gave the order to release the two men a day before Christmas. When speaking on the release, the attorney general said, "The two defendants are enjoined to observe the terms of their bail and refrain from engaging in any act that is inimical to public peace and national security as well as their ongoing trial which will run its course in accordance with the laws of the land."

The president of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ayo Oritsejafor, had denied in the past about his involvement in a $9.3 Million arms deal scandal after his private plane was detained in South Africa, but in recent report by a security source,  Oritsejafor with the former National security adviser, Sambo Dasuki and former President Goodluck Jonathan planned on how the cash will leave the country to its main destination in Cyprus, but unfortunately, the plane was stopped in South Africa, and the public got to know what had happened.

Immediately the story was let out of the bag, the Nigerian official released a statement that the cash was going to be used to buy arms from a company in South Africa, Tier One, but since Tier One is not a licensed to sell arms in the country, it was going to buy the arms from ESD International group limited located in Cyprus on behalf of Nigeria.

When the story was released to the public, the CAN president released a statement about the use of his plane in moving the cash, Oritsejafor had said that the jet to Eagle One, which in turn turned over the jet to Gold Coast Produce Limited.

The details of the leasing agreement were never released to the public after the Corporate Affairs Commission claims that they could not release the report of the leasing agreement as their server was recently taken over by another service/server provider.

Ayo Oritsejafor was seized by the South African authorities in September 5 after they found the cash in his jet, but he was one of the closest ally to President Goodluck Jonathan, and used the government influence to call the South African authorities
